Full IT Relocation Management, Start to Finish

Jones IT manages the complete technical side of your office move, so your relocation timeline isn't held hostage by IT logistics no one planned for. This is one of the project types covered under our Short-Term IT Projects service.

What's Included

  • Pre-move site assessment of your new space's network, power, and cabling requirements.

  • Move planning and timeline coordination alongside your broader relocation plan.

  • Server, network, and workstation disconnection, transport handling, and reinstallation.

  • Phone and VoIP system relocation with number continuity.

  • New office network and Wi-Fi installation (benefit from our network setup service rolled into one project).

  • Day-one, on-site support to resolve issues the moment your team walks in.

  • Decommissioning and secure disposal or data wiping of equipment you're not taking with you.

What Does an Office IT Relocation Cost?

Office IT relocations are billed under Jones IT's published Short-Term IT Projects rate of $315/hour, 25-hour minimum engagement, including project planning and management, full execution, QA and testing, staff training and knowledge transfer, and 30 days of post-implementation support. The number of workstations and servers involved, whether the new space needs new cabling or network installation, and how tight the move timeline is all drive how many hours a given move takes; we'll scope exact hours during your assessment.

Contact us today for a custom scope assessment based on your infrastructure's unique size and complexity.

What Affects Total Project Hours

  • Number of workstations, servers, network equipment, and IP phones to move.

  • Whether the new space needs new cabling or network installation.

  • Distance and logistics between old and new locations.

  • Move timeline: weekend/off-hours moves versus standard scheduling.

  • Number of locations or floors involved.

Common IT Relocation & Office Move Problems

The furniture and moving trucks are the easy part of an office relocation. The IT side is where things go wrong: network drops that weren't planned for the new floor plan, phone systems that don't reconnect on day one, and servers that get damaged in transit because no one budgeted time to move them properly.

  • You don't have a documented plan for disconnecting and reconnecting your network and servers.

  • Your new space wasn't assessed for network, power, or cabling needs before the lease was signed.

  • Your team is expected to be productive on day one, with no allowance for IT downtime.

  • You're not sure what needs to happen before moving day versus after.

  • You're relocating multiple departments or floors and need everything synchronized.
